        The company was originally founded in 1850's as a decorating service company in Nagoya, Japan. The firm had continued its family-owned business through the century until the current CEO Mr. Yoshiaki Hibi, the fifth generation from the founder, joined the company. He put great effort to rebuild the business for years. Sangetsu became a public company in 1980 and its shares currently have been traded on the First Section of Tokyo Stock Exchange.

        Sangetsu products cover a wide variety of designs, materials and functions at reasonable prices.

        Design:

        As a pioneer wallpaper industry in Japan, Sangetsu has created many wallpaper designs since the company was established, ranging from traditional to contemporary designs, from natural to metallic colors, and from ancient gold relief patterns to the woven Japanese-silk wallcoverings.

        Material:

        The majority of wallcoverings is made of vinyl with paper backing. However, for environmental and functional reasons, Sangetsu now offers a great variety of other materials such as: Textile, Washi, Raffia, Diatomaceous Earth, Olefin.

        Function:

        Sangetsu considers that wallcoverings should not only complement the interior of a room, but it should also cover many functions including: super durability, anti-mildew, super anti-stain, anti-static, anti-bacteria, luminescence, deodorization, bulletin board and glass film (self-adhesive decorative film).

        SANGETSU ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY:

        The business activities of Sangetsu are deeply related to the environmental. Environmental preservation efforts are an obvious responsibility of the company in the course of its business activities. From this perspective, and to create a better living environment, Sangetsu strives to reduce the environmental impact of its business activities, while giving ever greater consideration to preserving the global environment. In this respect, Sangetsu has five basic rules:

        Rule No. 1

        To establish and continuously improve environmental objectives and goals to enhance both corporative activities and global environment protection when implementing an environmental management system

        Rule No. 2

        To observe laws related to environmental preservation

         Rule No. 3

        To reduce waste; to encourage recycling; to conserve energy and resources; to avoid using substances that adversely affect the environment – in all stages of development, manufacturing, distribution, use and disposal of products.

        Rule No. 4

        To improve employee understanding of the company's environmental policy and environmental management activities and to disseminate this environmental policy widely to relevant personnel and encourage their understanding and co-operation
